Annie Leibovitz

Annie Leibovitz was born on October 2nd in 1949 in Connecticut. Her father an Air Force Lieutenant, Sam and his wife a modern dance instructor Marilyn had six children. Annie was enrolled at San Fransisco Art Institute in 1967. She enrolled to study painting however she fell in love with photography.

She lived in an Israeli Kibbutz for a short while then returned to the U.S. in 1970 and applied to work for the Rolling Stones, an up-and-coming rock music magazine at the time. Jann Wenner was impressed with her portfolio and hired her onto staff as a photographer. in a short span of two years she was promoted to Chief Photographer.Because of this promotion she was able to travel with the Rolling Stones band in 1975 on their international tour.

While working at the magazine she found her trademark of weird poses and bold colors. Wenner has awarded Leibovitz for creating many covers collector's items including an odd picture of John Lennon nude cuddling with his fully clothed wife. This photo was taken just before he was shot.

Since then she has done many more shoots and taken many more pictures and started working with Vanity Fair. She continues her life long dream to this day at age 63.
